Get a Health Insurance Plan That Fits Your Needs!

If you're Pre-Medicare (U-65) and unsure about your options We have Great News! There are lots of options and we have them ALL!

Below is an overview of the various health insurance options you may or may not be familiar with. Each of these has their own, specific pros and cons that together we will review to determine which is the best, most cost effective plan for you.

➡️ COBRA is designed to give employees and their families who lose their benefits the ability to continue coverage previously provided by their employer for a limited period of time (usually up to 18 months) such as voluntary or involuntary leave, reduction in hours, transition between jobs, death, divorce, and other life events. Individuals may be required to pay the full premium for coverage up to 102% of the premium.

➡️ AFFORDABLE CARE ACT (Marketplace/ ObamaCare) is the comprehensive health care reform law enacted in March 2010. The law had 3 primary goals:

1. Offer an affordable option to more people by providing subsidies (“ ax credits”) lowering costs for households with incomes from 100% to 400% of (FPL).

2. Expand Medicaid to cover all adults with income below 138% of the FPL (not all states have expanded their Medicaid programs).

3. Support innovative medical care delivery methods designed to lower the costs of healthcare.

We only work with the top-rated carriers you know and trust. Applications require NO health exams, have no exclusions for pre-existing health conditions and take under 10 minutes to complete.

➡️ Short-Term Health Plans are a temporary solution designed to cover medical expenses for emergencies and other health concerns, often used to bridge gaps between plans. These plans typically last 1 to 3 months with the ability to extend for an additional 4th month. Coverage offers fewer benefits and lower coverage amounts than COBRA or plans through the ACA. They may have limited office visits, rarely cover pre-existing conditions, mental health services, substance abuse, or maternity. Unlike ACA plans, there is no enrollment period and can be signed up year round. Plans are NOT regulated by the Affordable Care Act.

➡️ Defined Benefit Health Plans are another great option that pays a set, predetermined benefit for each service. In many cases the benefit paid exceeds the charged or billed amount. In those cases, the customer receives the unused benefit dollars back. This occurs over 85% of the time with our highly rated Flagship carrier. These plans are very comprehensive, have no deductible and no copays for outpatient services. Often time these are best option and are great for those who have inconsistent income, income that is difficult to predict, does not qualify for a tax credit, travel extensively for work (truck drivers, travel nurses, etc), or small business owners wanting to offer an affordable benefit package to their employees. Much like the Short-Term Health Plans, there is no enrollment period and are NOT regulated by the Affordable Care Act.

➡️ Healthcare Sharing Plans are provided by organizations whose members “share” medical costs. You are responsible for paying a monthly share amount (like a premium) as well as an “annual unshared amount” for medical expenses (similar to a deductible) that your medical expenses must exceed before the plan shares your expenses. Health sharing organizations are mostly religious-based but does not always mean you must declare your faith to participate or join. They do however, ask you to agree to live by a moral and healthy lifestyle—like not using tobacco or abusing drugs or alcohol. Healthcare sharing is NOT medical insurance, but count as insurance under the Affordable Care Act. They are not regulated by the department of insurance. Healthcare sharing plans aren’t required to cover pre-existing conditions, like cancer, diabetes, or lifestyle-related conditions like smoking and may decline coverage or won’t cover the conditions for 1+ years.

WITH SO MANY OPTIONS, HOW DO I DECIDE?

My advice, don't attempt to navigate this alone! It's complex and confusing at best. You wouldn't attempt to diagnose and treat symptoms of an illness without an expert medical opinion, right? Health insurance can also have a long-lasting impact if not approached appropriately. Choosing the wrong plan can be devastating. It can impact your ongoing health and financial situation(s), simply by selecting inadequate coverage, wrong network affiliation, or overpaying for coverage that isn't the right fit for your healthcare needs.

It's important to work with a specialist with years of experience, who knows and understands health insurance in the U.S. Brokers do not charge service fees, there is no financial obligation to speak with us. We do not have obligations to any one company, we are completely independent. We will help to remove the stress and simplify the process by shopping the entire market with you to provide support and answer questions.
